Literature Text

A dark existence breaks apart-
and light shines.
The world is bright
but hunger presses.

Existence becomes life with longing.

It nags and tugs, this feeling-
this feeling that she has yet to be
what she is destined to become.

She believes she was made for more-
it is a certainty that builds and presses
from the inside out.

Time passes.

Her body no longer fits her skin-
she itches to be free, to be different
she sheds the old to find the new underneath
just a bit reborn.

Comfortable again, she continues-
feeding her hunger
shedding her skin
consuming and absorbing the old into the new.

Whole but incomplete-
she waits for the monumental change
she was born recognizing.

Balancing on the cusp of a new beginning-
anticipating.

You see…
…she dreams of wings
…she dreams of being free.

When it finally happens, when the darkness beckons-
she goes willingly
building a strong shelter around her vulnerable body
transparent and beautiful.

There is peace in this waiting
and a certainty
that upon waking
she will be all she was destined to be.

Nearly complete in this short life,
complete with the wings she has always dreamt about.
This was inspired by a conversation with a fellow deviant, Keithss [link] We were talking gardening and he is so excited about summer and butterflies. He is hoping to catch one coming out as an adult.

So...I imagined in human words and emotions what it would be like to "be" a Monarch or Swallowtail butterfly in the making.

sigh...you know they are so beautiful, and yet have such short lives. Generally, they only live a few months from egg-to adult.
I suppose the way I have written this some people could relate, even me
Enjoy...
