I was struck by the compatibility of the pointed shapes of the snow, and the naked points of the little tree.

And this was after sunset. The sky around here often turns purple and pink at sunset in all directions except west in the winter-this is facing due north. Does that happen other places??

Mid Michigan, USA
stopped in the middle of the road, driver side door wide open, music blaring, knee deep in ditch snow, hoping no other car comes. :D:D
I'm a dork.

Oh very nice, we have very similar winter skies just down south a bit here in Indiana, just without the snow it seems this year.

Thanks. Yes..we are lucky to live where we do. :)
We have been very snowless, but have gotten at least three good storms. Which is pretty much fine by me! :)

We have gotten just a couple little snows, enough to make it white in the morning and then melt by the afternoon!

Hm, nice and subtle, with a balanced composition. It seems to fit the rule of thirds very well (a bit like your previous photo!) and the overall effect is very calming. The purple sky is great. :)

Thank you very much, Chris. I appreciate you saying that. Sometimes balance comes in the most surprising places...and unexpectedly. :)

I have another snow photo that I will upload soon. I think you are going to enjoy it particularly. :)

Oh, nice; I look forward to seeing it. Unfortunately, I might not have a chance to look at it until next week though, as I'm going away tomorrow on the school Classics trip to Italy - I'll take some photos myself, and tell you about it afterwards if you like. It should be fun.

Chris!!! Wow. That sounds like so much fun. I am very glad you get to experience that.

Of course my photo will be waiting.
I would love to hear about it. Fun, fun, fun! and be careful. Stay with the group all the time, lol. Okay?
It should be grand.
I'm jealous, but happy for you, dear. :tighthug:

Well...here is what I think happened, Andy.
When it snowed, it was that heavy laden, moisture filled snow. It began at dusk. Overnight the wind began to pick up, gusting up to 30mph. That sucked the moisture out of the snow and made it fine and powdery. Could be the texture of the snow falling actually changed...probable actually.
Anyway...their is a farmers field right behind that little tree and the wind blowing down that little hill into the ditch caused those pretty points. I think anyway. It wasn't really 'warm' enough to melt. We haven't been over 22 for a few days.

My hands haven't warmed up in a while...but you know what they say. "Cold hands, warm heart."

Not to be mean! I offered to make an official
meal tonight since it's VDay, and my son actually
suggested lemon meringue pie, so it was pure
coincidence that your snow happened to look like
meringue at the same time more or less.
I am more of a pumpkin pie girl myself.
