Description

"Waterways" Ludovico Einaudi:music: [link]

The second morning.

This day, I found my way down to the beach by myself, listening to my iPod, relishing my aloneness. The sunrise was a little slow, due to low lying clouds on the horizon and there were few people along the beach. I took a few quiet photos of pelicans in formation, birds dancing in the surf and that blue and pink blush pressing towards the crescent moon high above me.

I offered a smile and "good morning" to passerby's, an older man, tanned with long hair and a beard out getting his morning exercise, a woman dressed in traditional silken Japanese garb, her cell phone out and ready. Finally the burning red fingertip of the sun pressed it's way past the clouds. It is amazing how fast the sun actually rises when you can see him unhindered. It was a spiritual moment for me, ears filled with music, water crashing around me.

In a flash just a bright as that sunrise, the realization that I was alone weighed upon me. I wasn't lonely persay (maybe a little) but alone, without someone to share this beautiful moment with. I push the thought aside and continue shooting when I feel someone gently touch my shoulder. Startled I look around to see the tiny Oriental lady. She catches my eye and says in a heavy accent, "So beautiful, yes?" Her smile was nearly as stunning as that sun.

Yes. It was so beautiful.

And an epiphany erupted in my heart...we are only as alone was we want to be. And sometimes what we think we want, isn't that at all.

Be happy and safe, content and loved.
